For Sports Injuries
I specialise in treating and preventing sports injuries to help a wide range of people, from individual amateurs and people involved in recreational activities, right through to professional athletes and national sports teams.
I work with young and old, disabled and able-bodied, men and women. Athletes of all disciplines find the sports care that I provide is extremely beneficial.
My success and specialism in this area has led to me becoming the osteopath to the England men’s football team and Chelsea Football Club, carrying out consultancy work for players both in the Premiership and internationally.
Sports injuries tend to arise either from a specific trauma, such as a bad tackle or a collision, or when an increase in functional demand is placed upon a fatigued joint or soft tissue that isn’t working properly. I specialise in identifying the source of long term chronic injuries, often I see patients that have never had complete resolution from pain.
Correct diagnosis can highlight certain issues such as inadequate biomechanical or postural problems that can be corrected by orthotic devices that are prescribed by our Podiatrist. Likewise problems with the teeth and jaw and the upper neck can be highlighted as the source of pain often felt elsewhere in the body.
These can lead to muscle or pelvic imbalances, poor posture and altered spinal mechanics, which can cause the following:
- Shoulder impingement syndrome
- Tennis or golfer’s elbow
- Ligament sprains/muscle strains
- Cartilage tears
- Patella or Achilles tendinitis
- Hip impingement
If you’ve suffered a sporting injury, we can help to speed up your recovery time and get you back into action as quickly as possible.
I use a range of techniques including ultrasound, electrotherapy, shockwave and medical and electroacupuncture; combined with a rehabilitation programme to reduce the risk of problems in the future.
Many sports people who visit our clinics, from amateurs to top professionals, have found that my osteopathic care has led to a significant improvement in their performance and a reduction in the occurrence of injury.
